Search Index Roaming makes VDHX with identical Disk Identifier warning

Eric Rottier

I use Citrix 1912 LTSR CU1 with Windows Server 2019 for desktop publishing.

Also I use UPM with the recommendations from Carl's and James' sites.

Then Search Index Roaming is turned on. (for Outlook caching)

It works flawlessly, most of the time.

A few user accounts give warnings and errors in the eventlog. These users have gotten their profile reset by my helpdesk in the past. These events are only for reset users.

The thing in bold is my problem.

Both disks give a event ID 158, Source "Disk" warning: "Disk 5 has the same disk identifiers as one or more disks connected to the system. Go to Microsoft's support website (http://support.microsoft.com) and search for KB2983588 to resolve the issue.". Of course the Disk <number> changes.

This is probably the consequence.

Then the event ID 3008, Source "Citrix Profile Management" error: "The Citrix Profile management could not mount search database 'S-1-5-21-1234564453-1234062392-1150010123-1607' from 'C:\Users\{username}\Appdata\Roaming\Citrix\Search\'.

  Error code: '0x80070002': "

Then for some users even more errors from ESENT and Search that the searchindexer is broken or cannot be initialized etc.

Does anybody know anything about this combination of Search Index Roaming and the same disk id issue?

Thanks in advance and kind regards,
