Clone steps for Citrix XeanApp

John M1709162091

We are currently running with XenApp 7.15 CU 2LTSR using VMware vSphere 6.5 U3. I don't use linked clone such as MCS or PVS. I will use full clone in VMWare.

Here is my master image creation:

- Install fresh Windows Server 2016 OS

- Install VMWare Tools and latest windows updates

- Install role RDS Server and desktop experience

- Install Server OS VDA

- Apply OS customization and install 3rd software

- BIS-F to seal and SYSPrep-ing

- shutdown Master Image

My questions are :

1- I will use above steps. Is there any missing step? or What do you recommended? Especially , Do I have to use BIS-F tool ? is it require Sysprep?

2- My master VM already domain joined. I want to clone around 100 servers from Master Image.

- Clone it -> assign new ip address , rename hostname ,disjoin from domain ,reboot , join domain

After this , will it register automatically Citrix Delivery Controller ? Also , I have one machine group called windows server 2016 for Master Image. Also , I need to add new clone VMs this machine group ?

thanks in advance,

You should probably use the vmware customisation wizard rather than sysprep'ing the base image https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/com.vmware.vsphere.vm_admin.doc/GUID-C949426E-CF0C-436D-AF8B-A5D845A8FEA1.html

as long as you have a DHCP scope, everything, should be handled nicely and yes, the machines will register

You don't have to use BIS-F, but it will make life a lot nicer
