BCR doesn't seem to work on xenapp 7.15 cu3





I have a problem regarding Teams on Xenapp 7.15 cu3 environment. I have installed BCRX64 on my VDA and with a VDA install without HTML5 enabled. But it seems it doesn't want to make the connection with my local workspace app when I load a full desktop environment. I made all configuration settings via policy for BCR. 

Can someone please give a hint what could be the reason that bcr doesn't want to make a connection with my workspace app for HDX? my browser content redirection extension in google chrome stays gray.

When I check my registry, I noticed I don't have the HdxMediaStream key. And I don't get the option to set the firewall rule when I start my session.

Hi,  jsrmicro01,

  • Take a look at this article for BCR troubleshooting:  https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX230052. 
  • In addition to the methods listed in the article, you can also use RawCap (https://www.netresec.com/?page=RawCap) on the client to get some more information about what might be failing.    On the endpoint, open a command prompt with elevated privelege and start RawCap:       rawcap.exe localhost_capture_end.pcap
  • The Developer Tools tracing in Google Chrome provides helpful feedback when captured in the session at the same time.
    • First enable debug logging.
      • Choose the Chrome menu (three dots) -->More tools--> Extensions --> 
      • Find the Citrix Browser Content Redirection extension and click on the Details button.
      • Scroll down and select “Extension options”.  Enable debug logging.  
      • Close Chrome.
    • Then to make the debug log, Open Chrome and Press F12 to open Developer tools.  Choose the Console tab.  
    • Now browse to the whitelisted site.  The logs in the Developer Tools window can be saved.  Right click anywhere in the log and choose Save As.  
  • You might need to add some sites to Redirection Sites for Authentication.  Your Teams site is probably going to some other site for authentication, and that site needs to be added per the documentation.  If you don't know what site, check out the logs that you created for clues.

  • You will get better results using the latest version of Workspace App on the client, version 2002. https://www.citrix.com/downloads/workspace-app/windows/
  • You will get the best results by upgrading the VDA to the latest version as well.

Thank you @Sandra Burke. Updating our VDA did the trick.

The only thing is I can share documents and other participants can see me via my camera, but when other try to share a document I get a black screen. Same when they activate theri webcam. I can only see a blackscreen.


Do you now what can cause this?

Hi jsrmicro01,


  • I hope you are using the latest version of Workspace App, too.  There is a lot of the work done for BCR and Teams Optimisation in the Workspace App.
  • A black window in outgoing screensharing is mentioned in the "Troubleshooting HDX Optimization for Microsoft Teams" article https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX253754  It says "Black windows can be caused by issues on the sender's side (user capturing) or the receiver's side (user rendering the stream)."  I also noticed that "Screen sharing from chat is not supported currently".
  • If you have looked at this article, you might be discouraged at the complexity.   It is an excellent article and is updated regularly.
  • Looking at the webprc logs is a good first step.
