No audio when reconnecting to session on VDA 2003

Wondering if I'm alone or if others have seen this - I upgraded a catalog of machines (Win10 1909) to VDA 2003, and now get no audio devices when I reconnect to a session.   When I connect as a fresh login everything works, but if I disconnect and reconnect, no audio is available at all.

 

Looking in Director, Session Details, I can see that the headset and microphone devices are detected correctly, so the client must be passing things through.   But the little speaker icon in the system tray on the VDI just has a little red cross in it, as though it was Disabled, and if I right-click it has 'speaker setup UNKNOWN'.

 

I've updated everything to the latest - we're connected via Citrix Cloud, VDA 2003, and Workspace 2002 on the endpoint.   Everything is patched to the hilt, too.   And it all works with a fresh login, just not a reconnected one.

 

Anyone seen this or have any ideas?
