Customising Storefront with specific text

I have read in the documentation and some websites that you can add custom footers to all pages using this in the script.js file.

$('#customBottom').html("Text1<br />Text2<br />Text3<br />");

My question is based on this feature is it possible for each machine a user is logged onto to pull some information from either the system itself or created text file that would fill the items text1-3 with specific information like IP address, hostname etc?

I did see this article http://www.jgspiers.com/insert-client-ips-into-storefront-logon-page/ which displays the IP but users a Netscaler.

Did you try the instruction state in below document using #customBottom instead of #customScrollTop?
