PVS bootstrap stuck at "successfully validated bootstrap checksum".

Karel Brockhoven

Question

Hello,

When updating our master image and after deploying this image to 2 other PVS servers the target devices don't boot from these PVS servers. The boot process is stuck after "successfully validated bootstrap checksum".

We rolled back to a previous version and all works just fine. We ruled out the software updates we deployed by making a new version without adjustments but this one also fails to boot. We are rather clueless at the moment as to what is causing this (and are kinda stuck with adding patches to our image).

Which version of PVS is being used? Server and target? What hypervisor?
Vdisk versioning is used? If so does the mainteance version succesfully reboot several times? An issue is only encountered after promoting the version to production?

I've seen similar issues when e.g Virtual network switch has been configured wrong, that should affect the machines for the old revision/version also though.

Has there been any change in the Databases-scenario for the environment? You should also verify the SQL Browsing is correctly turned on.

You wrote "We're stuck with just adding patches to our image" and also "Tried to make a new version without adjustments". The version done "without adjustments", was it done with any updates (Windows Update or similar), if so, have you tried ruling that out also?
