BDM ISO 7.15 vs 1912

  • Brand new 1912 PVS servers for testing purposes
  • For testing purposes I am using a BDM ISO
    • VDA's would normally be created with the BDM partition
  • DHCP server is in a different VLAN
  • IP Helper is set correctly
  • VMWare Hypervisor
  • For testing purposes I am using a manually created VM so I can set to boot device to CD-ROM (The BDM ISO's)
    • BDM ISO created from 715 LTSR will get a DHCP address
    • Using the same VM, the BDM ISO created from 1912 LTSR will not get a DHCP address (max retries exceeded)

I have performed some packet tracing from the VM at boot time. These packet traces may not be complete but:

  • it would appear the 715 BDM sending a UNICAST packets
  • the 1912 BDM sending broadcast packets
  • Like I said this may not be the full picture and I'm working on getting accurate end-to-end packet traces.

Has anyone else seen this issue?
