FSLogix Profiles include section

Ricardo Holdorf1709160685

Question

Hi,

i have an question about the FSLogix Profile Container.

I want to switch from CPM to FSLogix, but have some Problems with the Redirections.xml .

When i add folders to the include section and this Folder not exist in the hd/vhdx then i can't access this Folder.

The reason is when i mount the vdisk to check the filesystem, i recognize that this folders are created as file.

Example

Exclude appdata\locallow

include appdata\locallow\test

then the Subfolder test is created as file in the vhdx and not as folder, so i can't access them.

When i then create the folder manually in the mounted vhdx than it is accessible.

So anyone ever struggled with that? And when someone ever implemented this, maybe you can share me how you add that?

your XML looks a little convoluted, you have this:

Quote

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<FrxProfileFolderRedirection ExcludeCommonFolders="###VALUE###">

<Excludes>

<Exclude Copy="0">Videos</Exclude>

<Exclude Copy="0">Saved Games</Exclude>

</Excludes>

<Includes>

<Include Copy="3">AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\security</Include>

</Includes>

</FrxProfileFolderRedirection>

you should try with something like this

Quote

<?xml version="1.0"?>

<FrxProfileFolderRedirection ExcludeCommonFolders="0">

<Includes />

<Excludes>

<Exclude>AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache</Exclude>

<Exclude>AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cached Theme Image</Exclude>

</Excludes>

<Includes>

<Include>AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\security</Include>

</Includes>

</FrxProfileFolderRedirection>

i share my experience after that

What was the outcome of the call?

We have a similar issue, but only using RDSH without Citrix, but with FSLogix.

I tested a lot around and found following out:

Most of the "included" folders, below an excluded one, do only work at the second logon, if you didn't try to access before.

If you tried to access during the "first logon session with the fresh profile", a file is placed the the VHD with the name of the folder, instead of the folder, and therefore it won't work in the future.

But if you logoff instandly after the first logon, the folders are created in the VHD and the next time you logon it works.

Only if you have a path with more subfolders below an excluded folder (e.g. the java path mentioned here), it doesn't work even after the second login...

dudes

I had exlcuded LocalLow and I have the same problem when trying to then include the Java security folder ..

I noticed that its always the last folder in the path which is the dodgy folder which is created incorrectly ..

so i tried adding \temp to the include path ...  so everything in path before it is created fine , the actual security folder is then usable, but the data wont be saved if it was in the exclusion path - so thats no good.

I have had no choice but to exclude other folders from the LocalLow path and NOT the Sun folder

.e.g.

<Exclude Copy="0">AppData\LocalLow\Microsoft</Exclude>

<Exclude Copy="0">AppData\LocalLow\Adobe</Exclude>

<Exclude Copy="0">AppData\LocalLow\Temp</Exclude>
