Windows 10 VDI takes 3 minutes to boot into the desktop

Nhan Ly1709160075

Question

Hello,

We are in the process of testing our Citrix Windows 10 VDI.  When I launch VDI from storefront, it takes at least 3 minutes to fully boot into the desktop.

1 minutes to see the windows 10 welcome screen.

2 minutes to fully boot into the desktop (long delay from windows welcome screen into Windows desktop).

Our environment.

2012 R2 AD.

 Citrix Xenapp/Xendesktop 7.15

Citrix MCS

WEM v19.03

ELM v19.10

VSphere 6.5

Windows 10 v1903

McAfee was configured per McAfee documentation.

https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB87654

Carbon Black was configured per Citrix recipes documentation

https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX226647?_ga=2.14039345.70129936.1578845339-1183576027.1563563734.

I like to know what can I do to reduce my VDI logon time less than a minutes (30 seconds).

Thanks for your help

I have tried the Optimizer like you suggested.  The VDI logon time did reduced a little, but not a significant change.

From storefront when I click on Windows 10 VDI icon to launch it takes about 20sec.

From welcome screen to windows desktop takes about 1 minute.

What can I do to reduce the time of VDI logon?

Thanks

Hi, it might be several different things,

Do you use WEM for Citrix profiles?, can you do a check in Citrix director, to analyse further on what is taking so long?

Is there a lot of GPOs applied to the user/vda, that might slow things down?

Yes, We do use WEM.

At this time, we only have 3 GPOs applied to the VDI OU.

How do you use Citrix Director to analyse logon process?

Hi, sorry for late reply,

If you login to Citrix director, there is a summary on login time for the sessions connected recently, you will find a table that state how long each part of the loginprocess take.
