Intermittent Connectivity Issue After MPX14020 FIPS Appliance Reboot

Recommended Posts

We're running 12.1 54.16 on three standalone MPX14020 FIPS appliances.  On one of the appliances, we found that there are intermittent connectivity problems to the VIPs after a reboot.  We also found that cycling Edge Configuration mode from off to on or from on to off restores normal connectivity on the VIPs until the next reboot is performed.  The management interface does not exhibit this issue and the issue does not occur on our two other standalone appliances running the same firmware.  Any idea of what might be happening here?

It sounds like a delay in the HA ownership. Do you see same delay in ownership of VIPS/SNIPs after an HA failover and not just the reboot.

Barring an issue related to an unhealthy HA pair and your secondary is unable to take over when expected...

You might need to check nslog for console messages and events to see if there is some other networking or ha issue at play.

But you might need to see if your switch or routers are not liking the change in mac addresses when switching IP ownership between appliances and delaying registering the new GARP advertisements or see if the virtual MAC option would alleviate this.

Hi.  Thanks for your reply.  This appliance is standalone, no HA failover involved.  We do have a case open with Citrix to investigate further but I wanted to also post here in case anybody had other ideas.
