Xendesktop 7.9 - The supplied address for the compute resource is invalid

Enrico Corvino

Question

Xendesktop 7.9 installed on Win server 2016, trying to connect to vcenter vcsa 6.7 I always get the error: " The supplied address for the compute resource is invalid"

Is not a certificate issue, vcenter has a certificate issued by internal active directory CA, where XD is joined so I can open vcenter url from browser without any certificate warning.

Error details:

There is a known compatibility issue with XenDesktop 7.6 LTSR and VSphere 6.7: https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX235513

"Issue Description
Configuring vSphere 6.7 for a new hosting connection on XenDesktop 7.6 LTSR fails with error “The supplied address for the computer resource is invalid….”
[LCM-4323]

Problem Cause
The issue is caused due to new changes in vSphere 6.7

Solution
There is no solution. vSphere 6.7 is not supported with 7.6 LTSR."

VSphere 6.7 is also not mentioned in the list of supported Hypervisors for XenDesktop 7.9: https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/legacy-archive/downloads/xenapp-xendesktop-7-9.pdf

So, my guess is you would have to either upgrade your XenDesktop Site or use a different Hypervisor.
