How to save user printer settings in ICA Session

Marc Kuhn

Question

Hi guys

i'm running a Virtual Apps 7 1906.2 environment based on Windows Server 2019. We have several Kyocera printers which have an option for private printing, where every user can configure a PIN for the printed document. During e Session the PIN is stored in the Printerdriver (Recommended Driver from Kyocera), but when logging off and login the setting is gone.

When i'm trying that as Admin with RDP, the setting is persistent. I saw some articles saying that there is a Citrix User Policy setting "Printer properties retention", which i configured to "Retained in user profile only"

But that isn't helping for my issue. Does anybody know how i can achive that the setting for the users are persistent?

Many thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Marc

So a couple of options here...

A) Citrix's recommendation for using this PIN would likely be to use the Citrix Universal Printer to have the print job sent to your local device's printer configuration, whereby then the saved print configuration on the endpoint would be used.  Admittedly, I don't see a lot of individuals using the Citrix Universal Printer and it's not the default configuration for Citrix in the policies...so...that's option A.

B) Secondly, a third-party product named ScrewDrivers by Tricerat is perfect for this.  ScrewDriver's is very aptly named in that it allows you to disregard all the print driver compatibility issues between Servers and Endpoints and allows you to use all the native driver functionality of your manufacturer print driver.  A link to the apps product page along with brief demo link is provided below.

Apologies for going off-track a bit...but found these to be your best options.

Hi guys

i'm still looking for a setting, where i can save the users PIN in the printer settings after logout and login. I found that article but had no luck with the solution there:
