Director and local logins

Shane Paul

Question

Does anyone know if it is possible to configure Director to use local creds instead of domain creds? We have a customer what is trying to get access to Director data that is no longer available in the user interface, so the restored that SQL database, the Director servers and one of the Controllers to an isolated VLAN that doesn't have a domain controller. I can't log into Director in that environment with my domain creds because these restored machines were not put on the domain. Wondering if I can use local creds to log into Director instead of domain creds.

Thanks!

Unfortunately not, it requires AD Authentication.

Only way you may be able to get to that data is to maybe manually extract it from the SQL Database or if you are really desperate you could build backup and restore a domain controller to the isolated VLAN.

Note I got this from here - https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/xenapp-and-xendesktop/7-15-ltsr/director.html

"To log on to Director, administrators with permissions for Director must be Active Directory domain users and must have the following rights:

Read rights in all Active Directory forests to be searched (see Advanced configuration)."
