Change Beacon URL

Ahmad Saad1709161264

Question

HI,

This might be simple however I can't get around it. I have a 7.9 farm where everything is working well except when the old BOX (Beacon URL server) goes down the Users won't be able to use the Citrix receiver anymore.

I tried to set up a new URL another server to remove the dependency on the old Box however all my attempts failed.

I created an internal website on another server and attempted to change the beacon address to the new URL, however, the receivers still failing.

How can you change the Internal beacon? what is the requirement for the internal URL?

or better yet, Can I get rid of it ? and use the service URL instead?

Appreciated

Hi!

the beacon is stored in the Receiver/workspace app config aswell,

https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/storefront/3-12/integrate-with-netscaler-and-netscaler-gateway/configure-beacon.html

"The beacon URLs should be fully qualified domain names (http://example.com) and not the abbreviated NetBIOS name (http://example). This enables Citrix Receiver to determine whether users are located behind an Internet paywall, such as in a hotel or Internet café. In such cases, all the external beacon points connect to the same proxy."

Thanks for your response!

I did reset the Citrix receiver and re-added the store again but didn't have any luck. I might need to re-install the receiver from the system. I will try that.

Ideally, I would like to usee the server URL that Citrix Storefront uses by default but if there is a need to set up another internal URL beacon then I am happy to do that

Hi,

I observed that if the internal beacon from the same subnet it would work however if I choose a beacon eg storefront.domian.com ( resolvable internally only) Dns record pointint to  ip in servers subnet( cloud), the Citrix receiver won't work internally. Despite the fact that I can ping the internal beacon from the users' machine ( users subnet).

What am I missing here?  is there any port needs to be opened?

I don't have any servers at the local office to create a new URL as they are all in cloud
