Upgrading VDA fails - MCS driver not available

Stefan Wendrich1709160263

Question

Hello,

we want to update our VDA 1903 to 1909. For the Upgrade we packaged the Standalone Desktop VDA installer into a SCCM Application and run the package with the commandline :

"VDAWorkstationSetup_1909.exe" /quiet /components VDA /controllers "wi216ctxddc1.dom.de wi216ctxddc2.dom.de" /optimize /masterimage /noreboot /install_mcsio_driver /enable_remote_assistance /enable_real_time_transport /logpath c:\Windows\Logs\

Thats working fine. The setup returns 3 and the installation is ok.

I rebooted the vm and then, shutdown. Take a snapshot and do a "Update Machines" in Citrix Studio through MCS.

After some time. MCS is failing with the following error message "the writebach cache driver was not found"

The only solution i found was to uninstall the vda manually and install it again.

What happend here? Why was the mcs driver not installed ?
