User cannot log in to windows | User  got stuck approximately like 5 mins, no error it just connecting and go back to log in page


Question

Hi Folks,

 

We are using the Windows 10 random (non-persistent) VDI for our Citrix users. All of our users are accessing the Citrix from different branches using the Dell Wyse Zero client device.

When the user submits their crdentials into the Dell Wyse login page then it would automatically single sign on to the Windows 10 VDI .

 

Problem Description:-

Almost every day the users complaints with the below two issues:-

===cannot log in to windows

===User will be stuck approximately like 5 mins, no error it just connecting and go back to log in page and gives error message "Cannot start app. Please contact your help desk""(error message:              GeneralAppLaunchError.)"

 

Action Taken:-

Everytime when these issues are reported we had forced Restarted from dellwyse, and user was able to log in and it works as well.Sometimes we had to perform multiple reboot of Dell Wyse device.

 

Product Details:-

Citrix XenDesktop 7.15 CU2, VDI= Windows 10 build 1709 and Windows 10 build 1903

VDI creation method == Citrix PVS 

User Device== Dell Wyse Zero client

User profile=== Citrix User profile Manager

 

 

Note:-

Also we are manually restarting all the VDI machines for the last one week to ensure the power management.We are planning to upgrade all the zero client devices to the latest firmware as well.

 

I appreciate if you guys can share me your valuable advise to resolve these issues.

There is a 3 step login process. 

Citrix login - Windows login and then UPM takes over the Userinit and sets the Windows Shell.

This error shoulds like Windows login processen = cannot log in to Windows = should be a error detail in the VDI event log.

 

This error is Citrix login process "Cannot start app. Please contact your help desk""(error message:  GeneralAppLaunchError .)"

There should be a more detailed info in the Event loggen in storefront !! this is just a generel error message !!
