Application virtulization for legecy software

Soheil Gharedaghi

Question

Hello,

In our company, we use an application which is just installed on Windows XP because of the architecture, and I have to design some infrastructure to virtualize that application for a short term of use during our development process for the new software, I want to know with which solution we can achieve this goal to virtualize our legacy application .

Regards

Are you asking how to run the app in the datacenter? Does the app only work on Windows XP? If so, one option is to build Windows 10 virtual desktops, enable nested virtualization and then install a virtual machine manager, like Hyper-V or VMware Workstation. Then you can run Windows XP inside the virtual machine that is nested in your virtual desktop.

Or can your app run on newer operating systems? If it works in Windows 10 64-bit, then you can run the app anywhere. If not, then can it run on Windows 10 32-bit? If not, then what is the newest OS it can run on?

First of all, thank you for your reply.

Yes, we want to run our app in the data center, last day we checked the application on Windows 10 Pro 32Bit and It's working perfectly, so now we should install VDA on the Windows 10 pro and publish the application in our Citrix infrastructure?

If it's yes, there will be a question what should we do about RDS on windows 10?
