Windows 10 1903 Packet Loss during CPU spike

Som Som

Question

We are experiencing freezes when using a Windows 10 1903 vdisk.

It seems like during a period of high CPU utilization, packets are dropped to both the PVS and Data NIC within the VDA (confirmed by pinging both interfaces from outside the VDA). When the session resumes, we see system interrupts at the top of task manager for several seconds. The number of PVS retries also typically increases.

VDA is on XenServer 7.1 with all updates applied and we're running the latest XenTools in the VDA (7.1.0.1396).

Yes, despite installing the latest XenServer management agent... on closer inspection the XenServer PV Network Class driver was on version 8.2.1.170 (it should have been 8.2.1.175).

8.2.1.175 adds "Improvements to VM performance and stability".

Updating the driver in a normal maint (did not reverse clone) seems to have done the trick.
