User sessions dropping with Event ID 1 from source ICA Client (Vanadium)

Jarred OBrien

My users are on Citrix Workspace 1907 and the farm is a XenApp 1906 PVS setup with VDA's having  Provisioning Target Device 1906.1 and VDA 1906.1 installed. All nodes are Windows Server 2016 on the latest patch.

A small group of users are reporting that their sessions are dropping when using applications in Google Chrome (launched from a 1906 Storefront). The error they're seeing in Event Viewer(on their workstation) is:

"The description for Event ID 1 from source ICA Client (Vanadium) cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer".

I'm not finding any errors on my VDA nodes. Event Viewer just says the user logged off.

I've attached the full error. I've had the users uninstall and reinstall their ICA clients. I found this article: https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX208492 .  However according to Studio the Legacy Graphics mode only applies to previous VDA versions. Anyone see this issue with 1906?

Hi, jobrie153.  This was an issue with the original release of 1906.  There was a respin, and it is called 1906.2.

"If you already used the earlier download to install or upgrade VDAs to 1906

Check the version number in your Windows Programs and Features display. If the VDA file version contains _1 or .1, see CTX257566. (https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX257566) "
