Question

Hi Experts,

Im using windows 2012 R2 server machine to access shared application. With citrix receiver 4.9.7 im not able to access application. when I click on application it throws "Citrix HDX engine has stopped working" and "Cannot open citrix receiver". I can successfully launch application from windows 7 machine using same receiver 4.9.7. What would be the cause? Requesting to help resolve this issue.

Good evening Madhu,

Please see the following Citrix documentation for Citrix Receiver 4.9.7 and check if the following applies to you situation:

  • With the Citrix HDX RealTime Media Engine plug-in installed, duplicate registry key values might be created when you upgrade Citrix Receiver for Windows to Version 4.9 LTSR Cumulative Update 7. Also, the session does not launch. The session launches only after you remove the duplicate data HDX RealTime Media Engine, SOCKSProxyPlugin, UDPGatewayPlugin from the VirtualDriverEx registry name.

To enable the fix, set the following registry key:

On 32-bit machines:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\ICA Client\Engine\Configuration\Advanced\Modules\ICA 3.0\

Name: VirtualDriverEx

Type: REG_SZ

Data: HDX RealTime Media Engine, SOCKSProxyPlugin, UDPGatewayPlugin

On 64-bit machines:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Citrix\ICA Client\Engine\Configuration\Advanced\Modules\ICA 3.0\

Name: VirtualDriverEx

Type: REG_SZ

Data: HDX RealTime Media Engine, SOCKSProxyPlugin, UDPGatewayPlugin

If not applicable, are the any events in the Windows Event Logs around the time of the error?
