Delays in mounting elastic app layers (sometimes)

Darin McClain

Question

I'm experiencing a weird issue where sometimes elastic layers are taking almost 2 minutes to mount, but usually it only takes 10-15 seconds.

Just using dummy user accounts for testing, duplicate VMs, no user layers, same exact layers configured for the users as well.

Any ideas where I should look to see what the hold up is?

Are they in compatibility mode?  If so do they have services becasue they woudl have to wait for the service to start if they are in compatibility mode?

Look at the log in c:\programdata\unidesk\logs  sometimes I have seen where a file could not be opened and the layeirng service waits 30 seconds and tries again.  If thats the case you will see it in the log.

None of them are set to compatibility. I do see some events showing a delay though in the log. Attached it if needed. I do have one layer that says it won't work right elastically, going to remove that one and test some more.

About 2 weeks ago we got our Scale out File Server share working beautifully.

I changed a setting on the file share from medium to high priority, and removed that layer that didn't work elastically. Seems to be better now, not sure which did it, thinking file share setting though.

UPDATE: This did not fix it. Disabling continuous availability fixed my layer mounting issues, even though having that on was the primary reason we made these servers...
