Open Excel on local PC when hosted app exports an xls file

Richard Phillips

Question

Hi,

Fairly new to Citrix and its terminology so please bear with me.

In final stages of deploying the latest version of citrix apps and desktops (version 1903) solution for remote working and serving a range of applications that need to be accessible to everyone, but not ideal to deploy to every PC.

We use Sage Payroll for our payroll system, and its installed on a windows server and published so 3 users can get access to it. They need to start using a function in it whereby it exports reports to XLS files. Excel is installed on their local PCs. I don't really want to install Excel on the server that runs Payroll, as it just increases updates etc which I don't want to get in to.

I think what I am trying to do is achievable, but I am not sure on the terminology of what I am looking for.

Please could someone guide me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Richard.

welcome to the age old pain point - not much you can do there for the most part, whack excel on the image, or ask sage to output to a special or redirected folder, users will then need to launch from their endpoint - there is some platinum features that might help with local seamless apps, but i have never used them
