Deleted AD accounts of all servers include the DDC's

Yair Biton 2

Question

Hey Guys,

one of my customers  accidentally execute a script that deleted all his servers accounts in Active Directory, include 2 XenDesktop sites. most of services return to normal after rejoining the domain.

the sad thing they cannot restore the computers accounts :37_disappointed:

But in 7.x the computer account of ddc's has a big role for maintaining the database, and now there is a mismatch between current SID of DDC's and SID on chb_Config.Controller and chb_State.Controller.

so my questions are:

  • is there any chance adding new DDC to site without having an active DDC ?
  • Is there something else i can do ?

Tank you all

James is right, ideal way would be to Perform an Authoritative AD restore.

I am pretty sure as first thing you would have explored those options.

From AD side: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/840001/how-to-restore-deleted-user-accounts-and-their-group-memberships-in-ac

From Citrix's side you may wanna try this:
https://www.citrix.com/blogs/2014/05/27/xd-tipster-manually-joining-a-new-controller-to-an-existing-site-db-new-improved-4-step-process/

I haven't tried it myself so not sure how well it works. May be try it in your lab first.
