Pagefile High Usage 100ms massive IRP_MJ_WRITE PVS 1811.1 WIN2012 R2 Hyper-V WIN2012 R2

Question

Hello,

we have the problem that the provisioned VMs have a high Pagefile Usage. The Pagefile seems to be flooded by "IRP_MJ_WRITE" every 15 ms.  This results in a high Response Time (100ms) in the Drive Activity Ressource Monitor.

IRP_MJ_WRITE seems to be the system himself, Drivers or anything like this.

The System behaviour is normal, you could normally work on this machines.

If memory usage is high on the hyperv hosts and VMs have dynamic memory enabled, disable dynamic memory and check if the issue reoccurs.

VMs using dynamic memory will lead the OS to load a ballooning driver to “claim memory” on VMs to free up physical memory which can be given out to other VMs due to higher memory demand. If memory usage is high on the hyperv host, and VM memory demand is high there can be a spike in page file activity trying to accommodate memory demand, and associated page file activity.
