Please help, I can't license Xen Hypervisor.

Artem Maevskij

Question

Hello!
Please help, I can't license Xen Hypervisor.
I installed a license server on a workstation - it does not start: it swears at many errors. Many files and components do not find to run.
I downloaded Citrix License Server Virtual Appliance v11 and deployed it.
It started. Now I can not screw my license.
Help me to understand.

Do you have  a network connection to the license server on that same local network subnet as your XenServer host(s)? Generally speaking, the 192.168 network isn't routed, and so you may be better off using a 10 net to give you a bit more flexibility in being able to access your license server. Can you even ping it from your XenServer host?

yes, its just an msi you install that installs a service and you use a web page on the pc to manage it.

Best to use a machine that is outside of your XenServer environment so you don't run into a catch-22

on needing a license to start the vm which is what you need running to then license your product.
