Hello,

I am looking to spin up a demo / trail of Virtual Desktop in a VM ware environment.

Can someone point me to a document or link to help determine how many  VMs I need to spin up for the backed servers?

Thank you!

Hello,

For a DEMO/POC, you can have all the role on the same server: DDC, StoreFront, Studio, Director

You will need at least:

1 Server for all infra component (2 vCPU, 8GB of RAM)

1 Server for VDA

Do you need external access?

Do you need to provide/test provisioning (PVS or MCS)?

Thanks

Arnaud

For the initial proof of concept idea I will not need external access.

PVS would be nice too.....

If I wanted to easily move my POC to production would it be easy to split up my single server into multi?

Or should I build my POC as close to production as possible?

I guess I have two main goals

1-  POC functionality -- kick the tires and confirm fits my needs

2 - If works move to production without rebuilding.

Or should I not worry about the move to production phase and start fresh for production to ensure clean system.?

So first, you need to know that MCS is more easy to implement and do not need art least 1 PVS server.

If you want to be able to move to production, first you will need a SQL Server as SQL Express is not supported for Production.

You should split Citrix Component on different servers, after it will depend on the number of users.

Do you plan to provide access to Windows 10 Desktop, Windows Server Desktop, Published applications?

Thanks

Arnaud

Going to start with window 2016 server as a shared desktop experience.

Probably 2 servers to split the load and for redundancy -- Probably more when production.

As far as windows 10 that may be later down the road for those who need more dedicated resources.

Not sure if I will publish apps probably just shared or dedicated desktops.

I am also looking to test via thin client  for my VDI experience.

Citrix Receiver when we rill out for remote use.
