Double number of sessions than paths

Fresh Egg

Question

We have recently changed our SANs.

Still using iSCSI, but using FreeNAS.

I have noticed that the multipathing doesn't seem quite right.

On one of our SRs, the multipathing is showing:

XEN 1: 6 of 6 paths active (12 iSCSI sessions)
XEN 2: 6 of 6 paths active (12 iSCSI sessions)
XEN 3: 6 of 6 paths active (6 iSCSI sessions)

See attached screenshot.

Why would the first 2 hosts be showing 12 iSCSI sessions.
The 3rd host was also doing this until rebooted.
But upon rebooting XEN 1 + 2, they stay the same.

I've had that happen myself, and it could be as simple as configuration on the FreeNAS is presenting more logins to XenServer than

it needs to, or storage is a little confused and you need to close all of those sessions and detach/repair your storage. I don't think

I have ever seen this cause issues, its more of a visual annoyance.

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your reply!

I'm guessing that if it was the FreeNAS config, it would be reporting 12 sessions on all 3 hosts? Or is that not the case?

I'll migrate everything off of the SR and detach it.

Do I need to close all of the sessions before detaching it? If so, how is this done?
