With a true 10 Gb NIC, you should be able to set up a VM private network or cross-server private network, but you need a 10 Gb NIC to start with, even though it's totally internal with a VM private network on a single server, because the network hardware itself still has to be virtualized.

Not that I'm aware.  I'm not too sure how much that nic makes on internet network speed anyway. Not something

I have played with. Even if you made the VM look like it connected at 10Gb the speed may be the same.

If I used the same concept that I used to get 1 Gig NICs (which is this: https://blogs.serioustek.net/post/2016/07/28/adding-e1000-nic-xenserver-7, then all I need is a driver that does 10 Gig. I just don't know where and if that driver is available.

Thanks,

So I can't use "Virtual Hardware" like I can for 1 Gig? From my understanding I should be able to just find a different driver and add a bit of code to detect if I want to use it. I only say any of this because of this: https://blogs.serioustek.net/post/2016/07/28/adding-e1000-nic-xenserver-7

That is how I got my 1 Gig networking done for the single server network
