wfshell.exe crash with Server 2016 and Citrix 1808/1811 VDA

John Taussig

I am seeing that wfshell.exe is crashing when using Server 2016 to host Citrix Apps with either the 1808 or the 1811 VDA version.  This is a crippling problem.  Note that the 7.15 CU3 VDA works perfectly fine.

This seems to be a different problem than some of the other problems that have been documented with wfshell.exe crashing -- the faulting module is Icactls.dll, I don't have bidirectional content redirection policy enabled, and the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\AppSetup value is set correctly with just one entry for cmstart.exe.

No solution.  Using the older VDA version as a workaround.

i probably try this.

it is kind of complicate:

we work byod, so it is always a double hop to the server where wfshell crashes. and only appears if Hyper-V is below. we have some moonshot servers, without problems.

problem is, with rdp this is not happening, and user know that, so they start to dont like Citrix....

i have an open incident 78993710 and we are working as usual.

make first vda and second vda same version, uninstall mcafee and try again..

thx and remain
