UPM Microsoft document cache issue

I have an issue when users open excel files they get an error about the document cache needs to repair.


I can see this is a UPM issue,because when I disable UPM processing excel documents load with out issue.


I have attached a screen shot error, and I believe for what ever reason the cache location is not creating correctly  .




there is only one file 




but there should be 3 files 






If I delete the folder , and open an excel spreadsheet it crashes.

the folder is re created but  again only with CentralTable.ini.



Hoping some one has seen this before and could suggest a fix , I am just going around and around in citrix support.

I am experiencing this same issue.  Removing the cache folder (  AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\16.0\OfficeFileCache ) temporarily resolves the issue, but it doesn't seem to be a long term fix.  I'm not sure if it's UPM or something else causing the issue.


When I look in this folder, I usually only see one file.  It's like something is preventing the entire configuration from being made.  I wish I could just disable this cache, but I can't seem to find a way to do that, either!
