Office 365 on Server 2019 with VDA 1811

Joe Robinson

Question

Good Afternoon:

I've been struggling for some time now with Office Activation.  Everything was working great, and then I let loose some test users in this environment.  After a week or so of testing, I started getting complaints about Office applications not working.  I was finally able to reproduce it by wiping my user profile and starting from scratch.  This is what I see...

When starting Outlook 365 (I've tried multiple versions, right now I'm at the latest monthly) I get prompted for my email address.  It fills it in and I just have to hit connect to continue.

Another window pops up, which I believe is supposed to be asking for authentication, but it's blank.

And then nothing happens.  I've let it sit for hours hoping to just see an error, and nothing.

If I log into the server XenApp server directly with the same user and launch Outlook using the same command lines, I see the outlook splash screen and then this:

If I enter my password, and continue logging in, Outlook opens, creates my new OST and I can access my mail.

If I close outlook and logoff the server and launch Outlook seamlessly again (storefront), Outlook opens but I get that blank window from above.  I can close it and use outlook.

If I log back into the server desktop again, and launch outlook, I end up with these two screens again:

And then Outlook is fine...

I tried disabling all seamless flags and that didn't seem to help.  I also double and triple checked my authentication policies for the office client, and they still look good...

Anyone seen this?

Hi Joe

Office 365 is not supported on Windows 2019

Microsoft have extended Office365 support on Windows 2016,

Office 2019 is supported on Windows 2019, but not Office365.

Office365 will be supported on the new Virtual Desktop version of Windows 10, that is Azure only.

You can vote here, maybe if enough people vote, Microsoft will reconsider their decision to drop Office365 on Windows 2019.

I understand that I may be out of support, but I have to believe that it's a communications error on Microsoft's part.  I have some email into our Microsoft reps, and I'm looking to get the official statement after the new year.

However, the app seems to work fine in RDSH -- it doesn't work when I present it via seamless.  This is a good sign the issue is with the Citrix side of things, and with all the new browser redirection tech they've implemented in the past few versions, I'm wondering if it's causing this page to not be displayed.  I really wish apps would stop using IE to sign in!  This wouldn't be the first time it bit me, and I'm sure it won't be the last (assuming thats the problem).

They seem to only mention VDI/Desktop ...I have a fresh load of 2019 Server and O365 and the white pwd screen is still there on the published/seamless app.   If I login to a full published desktop, the pwd screen shows up properly.   Still points to Citrix/seamless and this pwd screen popup.

I'm having a similar issue with a full published desktop on Server 2019, VDA 1909.1 and Office 365 16.11328.20438. I figured I'd bump this before creating my own thread.

When Excel is launched:

After entering my email, I don't even get prompted for my password. It skips right to the Excel window and the title reads Excel (Non-Commercial use)(Unlicensed Product). This is through ICA, however, if I log in through RDP, I can activate successfully.

Here your solution: Password field not displayed when publishing any Office 365 application such as Excel or Word on Server 2019 (citrix.com) CTX267071
