Publishing Adobe Acrobat

Derek Bourgeois

Question

I work in healthcare for a non-profit and currently use the newest XA LTSR with only published apps.  We have a need for our providers to have Adobe Acrobat.  We were wondering if we could purchase one for each application server and publish it that way or what that process would look like?

Thank you in advance

Adobe licencing is a disaster - you are best talking to adobe and find out exactly what they require this week

There are some technologies that can help you with licence compliance depending on what the fine print of licence requirements are - device or user based access etc - checkout tools like FSLogix App Masking which can help you line up with the requirements

We went with subscription/per user Adobe licenses. The user simply authenticates using their Adobe credentials on first launch of Acrobat, this assigns their license and is stored in the user profile. Be sure your Citrix Profile Manager exclusions/inclusions are capturing this information so their licensing status persists between sessions. (If you are using app locker, some of the licensing binaries are not signed by Adobe and require a "file hash" rule.)

File associations for PDF files is something you'll also need to consider if you plan on having Reader and Acrobat on the same image/VDA.

We choose subscription licenses based on cost and the flexibility of revoking and issuing licenses as our numbers of users who require Acrobat changes monthly.
