UPM Com Server - DistributedCOM Error 10016 - Service not started -> no Profile load

Robert Madrian

Question

Hello,

I use Citrix UPM with XenDesktop 7.15 CU3 with PVS 7.15 and sometimes on different VM's I have the following error and as a result no profile is loaded from the profil store:

Quote

The "Application-Specific" permission settings do not give the "Local Start" permission for the user "NT AUTHORITY \ Network Service" (SID: S-1-5-20) under the address "LocalHost (using LRPC)" COM server application with the CLSID
{560B3BE3-E022-419C-8D82-D97843F35BF4}
  and the APPID
{E55A04E7-7F63-474C-B111-798A15B917E5}
  in the application container "Not available" (SID: Not available). Security privilege can be changed using the Component Services Administration Tool.

the CLSID {560B3BE3-E022-419C-8D82-D97843F35BF4} is for the UPM COM Server (see attached picture)

because of this error also the Profile Stream Service is not started...

this happens not on every maschine - it seems that it happens random

what can cause this - how to solve this?

Hello,

Regedit

 go to Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID : search {560B3BE3-E022-419C-8D82-D97843F35BF4}

on the kye go to security change the owner to set local Administrators group and add full control to the local administrators group

do the same for Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID : search {E55A04E7-7F63-474C-B111-798A15B917E5}

set the same permission

Next :

go to component services --> Computer --> My Computer --> DCOM Config

search UPM COM Server --> Property -> Security --> launch And Activation permission --> Edit --> check Local Start and Local Activation for NT AUTHORITY \ Network Service

Regards,

I know this is an old thread but using it to troubleshoot an issue. I don't have "UPM COM Server" until DCOM Config, I have UPM COM Service. I don't see UPM COM Server on 2012 or 2016 in that spot so I wanted to check.

I also noticed that the owner for the reg keys I had the error for was Trusted Installer. Does that mean the VDA was somehow not installed properly? Just curious.
