Console mouse cursor sync issue

David Reade

Question

I am using XenServer 7.0 with XenCenter 7.5.

The mouse cursor works fine with all non-XenDesktop VMs; the dot and the pointer are always together.

With XenDesktop Windows 10 VMs, the dot is always a few inches away from the pointer and randomly get further away or closer as the cursor is moved around the console.

Restarting XenCenter does not work. This happens from the moment the VM is started, and only with VMs created using XenDesktop 7.18. Even the base VM is unaffected.

Any ideas?

Does this also take place if you undock the session? I remember seeing this many times before and don't

recall if there was ever a real fix; it magically went away after some upgrades. You could try going back to an

older XenCenter version, which -- if it worked -- could help Citrix identify a potential bug.

Just had a chance to try this on a test vm, removing those two keys did indeed fix the mouse issue.

Any idea why and if this is safe to do on my production servers? Thanks

Should be safe to do on production servers.

Can you try the following on a test VM when the VM is shutdown ?

 xe vm-param-remove param-name=platform param-key=usb uuid=xxx
 xe vm-param-remove param-name=platform param-key=usb_tablet uuid=xxx

and see what happens?

Thanks Boby.

It worked for me.
