Several locked profiles

Christos Giotis

Question

CPM is enabled with streaming and active write back. The majority of users have multiple sessions.
Suddenly many users was complaining that weren't able to open their applications while their  receiver was stuck on local session manager screen.  Related to this issue we  found out in Citrix profile management logs a  related error as  the following
06;11:59:19.411;ERROR;DomainXXX;userxxxx;20;7196;ProcessLogon: Locking userstore area failed.Access is denied.
Also after a searching in userstore we found around 250 profiles which contained in pending folder the lockfile with 0 kb and other profile folders as well.  All lockfiles were created the same time at  27/09/ 2017 14:05.
As workaround we renamed the profiles.
Could anyone give an explanation how is possible to have that several   locked profiles at the same time considering that is the first time we have seen something like that in our enviroment.

Were you running Server 2016 when this occurred and did you find a resolution?

Resolved a similar issue by running the Citrix Optimizer tool on the MCS gold image, cleaning up/removing profiles in Windows also on the gold image, disabling Windows Defender by GPO and updating the Machine Catalog. Also, when taking a VM snapshot in vCenter for the gold image, it works better if the gold image is turned on instead of powered down while taking the snapshot which will be used to update the machine catalog.

Hope this helps...
