Error in Event Viewer when testing email Alerts in Director 7.8

Decarlos Kornegay

Question

When trying to test email alerts in Director I get an error in event viewer saying:

The data source 'Unknown error' ('http://deliverycontroller/citrix/monitor/v1') responded with an unexpected error.

user:'domainname/username'
Console operation:'Sending test message in mail...'

Additional Information:
'ExceptionThrown (0)

I've verified that port 25 is opened to the email server.

Has anyone seen this error before

I managed to resolve this on our platform.

We have all components split out individually on to separate servers and our SMTP server uses a restricted access list ... Just as a heads up, I noticed that it's not actually Director that sends the email, it's the DDC. So if you have everything on separate servers as well, make sure the DDC is permitted to use the SMTP server ...

i followed the suggestions to add the DDC to the firewall Whitelist, but still

the error is:

The data source 'Unknown error.' ('http://deliverycontroller/Citrix/Monitor/v1') responded with an unexpected error.

User: 'Domain\user'
Console operation: 'Sending test message in mail...'

Additional information:
'ExceptionThrown (0)'
