Reverse HTTP Monitor Question

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to configure a fairly simple Active/Passive service setup using a reverse monitor to keep the secondary service down. I'm configuring an HTTP-ECV monitor to expect a string of "STATUS: Okay" from the supplied status page. The issue is when the webserver on the backend appliance fails or goes offline for maintenance, the reverse monitor returns a timeout instead of a "Success" result. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

unfortunatly the reverse monitor does not work as expected if the server goes down, except if you use an ICMP based monitor. I believe the HTTP based reverse monitor still needs to complete the TCP handshake as well as get a (wrong) response from the server to work. The different scenarios is well documented on the docs site.

Hope this helps...
