Outlook 2010 .pst

Gary Smith1709151956

Question

Hi,

What would be the best way to use the UPM with Outlook 2010 considering that our mail system keeps local .pst files.

We are using both XenApp and XenDesktop and have the open to either place Outlook on the vm or via xenapp.
The problem we see is that the user pst files need to be places in a central location so opening a 4gb pst for users will cause performance issues.

Which would be the best way to approach this type of scenario?

Regards,
Gary

Neither Roaming Profiles not UPM supports the roaming of OST or PST files with Outlook (any version). See http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/office-2003-resource-kit/configuring-outlook-for-roaming-users-HA001140269.aspx

Unfortunately the locations of OST and PST files are stored in a binary blob in the profile, which is also updated by the Windows Messaging Subsystem, even when Outlook isn't in use. This is an unsafe configuration, in which profile corruption can occur, and is not supported.

Sorry.

Bill
