CUGC Meeting Supersized! What a great way to start 2019 with Florida’s first CUGC XL event in Orlando. We owe the successful XL to months of collaborative planning with CUGC Headquarters, as well as Jacksonville, Orlando, South Florida and Tampa’s local CUGC group leaders. It was a free all-day event packed with technical presentations from expert speakers, great conversations and information sharing in roundtable discussions, along with plenty of networking opportunities with peers and vendors to inspire the latest in solutions.

The day started with registration and a delightful breakfast. Attendees got to network with peers and worked on completing their CUGC passports. The passport got us started on visiting the vendors, which led to earning a raffle ticket for prizes later in the day.

South Florida leader Shane Kleinert was the day’s outstanding emcee and kicked off the introduction for Citrix Lead Architect and CTA Daniel Feller.

An attentive audience wowed, by the metrics in Daniel’s XenApp/XenDesktop Tech Update, soaked up the knowledge and chuckled at the Chuck Norris references.

Arnaud Pain, Tampa Leader, and Samuel LeGrand CTP and France Leader, demonstrated how to use Microsoft Azure to support your Citrix Disaster Recovery Plan and provided useful tips for deploying.

Patrick Coble, Security, and EUC Architect gave us an insightful view on surviving those PenTests, and all the things we should think about to secure Citrix environments and more. After a fantastic lunch, the group recharged for some more learning with Victor Rodriguez, Technology Strategist, Office of CTO, Citrix. Here, we got clarity on Citrix Workspace and its aim to eliminate complexity. Workspace highlights the commitment Citrix has made to simplify the user experience.

You would think by this time of the day everyone was getting tired, but that was not the case when Jarian Gibson, CTP and Kansas City CUGC Leader, took the stage. We got the real-world facts on making Office 365 work in Citrix.

The open interaction in the roundtable discussions proved invaluable with the sharing of ideas and experiences.

There were a few humorous moments; the highlight being the dancing skills of Shane and Patrick!

In between presentations each sponsor gave introductions to their product and what’s new. A big thank you to the sponsors: Citrix, ControlUP, IGEL, Nutanix, Liquidware, and Tricerat.

A heartfelt thank you also goes out to CUGC and the Speakers for making it possible for like-minded users to come together, share and learn valuable insights. Your passion for the Citrix community is infectious, and it was reflected in the enthusiasm of the attendees.

Lastly, I would like to thank the CUGC members of Florida for attending and making CUGC XL Florida a fantastic event!
