Hi folks. It me again. Not only do I watch over Project Callisto and Web Interface I also responsible for the Common Management Interface (CMI) and its customer facing application the Access Management Console (AMC). have another feature question for everyone. Below you see two versions of the AMC. The one on the left is the product as it is today and the one on the right is, potentially, a new AMC. The key difference is that we have moved all of the common tasks out of the root and in to each node as appropriate. There is tremendous upside for us in our flexibility and timeliness on upgrades to the AMC and the specific product nodes. The downside is you would no longer be able to use common tools across multiple products. I.e. Search.

Obviously, removing functionality is always a concern for us so I like to hear how you feel about us making this change.

All comments are welcome even if they are ambivalent.

Thanks

I understand your wish to make it as modular as possible from a developer point of view. But as an outsourcing provider, we really like it as integrated as possible so that my staff can get the information and create the reports as quickly and easily as possible. Would it be possible for you to create it modular, but create a view, in a separate module, that collects all the information from the other modules and reproduces it? Preferably in a way that makes it possible for you to add future modules without having to update the "presentation-module"? Regarding the actual configuration of the different products in the modules, I have no problem with them being separate modules, but reporting and diagnostics etc. really can make an impact on the time consumed for a customer.

Hi Al, I like the 5.0 AMC shown on the right - but I really would like to see the integrated Search capability ported over somehow. And what about reporting capabilities? Would those also be sacrificed (performed individually at every node instead of at the top) if we moved to AMC 5.0 shown? -Nick.

FYI - I'm not seeing the console snapshots in the blog entry.

Our main issues now involve delegation - being able to delegate XenDesktop responsibilities to a VDI group while not giving them the "keys to the farm" for the entire XenApp infrastructure.
