Previously, he was a member of the [University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory|http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/], where he received [his PhD|http://anil.recoil.org/papers/] in creating high-performance, secure systems software using high-level languages. Anil has contributed to many open-source projects, primarily as a long-time developer of the secure [OpenBSD|http://www.openbsd.org] operating system.
