Several hotfixes to support new versions of Adobe Flash when using SpeedScreen Flash Acceleration have recently been released in hotfix rollup packs. Here's a summary of the most current hotfixes, handling Flash versions up to 9d:

  • HRP2 for XenApp Presentation Server 4.5 for Windows Server 2003 32-bit Edition: PSE450W2K3R02 (see KB article CTX116289)
  • HRP2 for XenApp Presentation Server 4.5 for Windows Server 2003 64-bit Edition: PSE450W2K3X64R02 (KB article CTX116294)
  • HRP4 for Presentation Server 4.0 for Windows Server 2003: PSE400W2K3R04 (KB article CTX113484)
  • Limited release hotfix PSE400R04W2K012 for Presentation Server 4.0 for Windows 2000 Server (KB article CTX115555)

Support for Flash 9e is in the works (see Secrets for Optimizing Flash Performance - Part 3).

And now Flash 9f (9.0.124) has been released!  How is that engineering fix looking?

Security Update

The new fix is looking good... Of course, this week's release of Adobe Flash 9f gives us another test case to make sure it really works!

The fix is planned to be included in the next Hotfix Rollup Packs for 4.0 and 4.5. It will also be included in Delaware, although I doubt if it will be in the Release Preview at the end of this month.

In the interim, I believe customers with an approved support contract can contact Citrix Tech Support to put in a request for a limited release hotfix to handle Flash 9f. Such requests are prioritized according to demand and customer impact. I've alerted our Escalation managers in the Life Cycle Maintenance team to expect customer demand for such a hotfix, especially since Flash 9f is described by Adobe as a critical security update.

Hey Derek, thanks for updates, we have since disabled Flash *.swf access using our St. Benard iPrism Internet filtering device and also configure firewall to block MMS type media (some sites fall back to MMS if flash fails or if using Windows media).

Having hotfix rollup 5 come out would allow us to re-enable Flash, so...I hope this gets addressed, we have no other issues with Citrix at this time.
