Starting Citrix Receiver for mobile devices

Please Note: Launching applications via Web Interface or company portal is not supported.

Click here for a guide on configuring Citrix Reveiver for mobile devices.

When you start Citrix Receiver for the first time, you must enter specific information about the resources you want to access, your credentials, and your authentication method. If you do not have this information, contact your Citrix administrator.

1. On the Account Settings screen, enter the following information:

  • The address of the XenApp Services site hosting your published resources
  • Your user name and password
  • The domain name

2. To store your password for the next time you start Citrix Receiver, turn Sign In Automatically on. (this feature must be allowed by your administrator)

Note: The Sign In Automatically option assumes that you always access resources at the same address every time you use Citrix Receiver. If you want to change your Account Settings later to access resources in a different location, turn this option off. For more information, see "Finding Your Account Settings."

3. To log in through Access Gateway, turn Gateway Sign In on. After turning on this option, configure the following settings:

a. Under Gateway Type, select the edition of the gateway.
b. Under Gateway Authentication, select the appropriate authentication method.

4. Tap Next. Citrix Receiver displays a list of the resources you can access.

Finding Your Account Settings
The Account Settings screen contains your account credentials, the address of the XenApp Services site that hosts published resources, and your authentication method. You can change this information at any time.

To view or change information in the Account Settings screen:

a. Tap Settings > Citrix.
b. Turn off the Sign In Automatically option, if turned on.
c. Restart the Citrix Receiver. The Account Settings screen appears.

Gestures Guide

All Citrix Receiver(s) for mobile devices come with a Gestures Guide that provides short descriptions of supported gestures (depending on device) you can use while working with applications.

Working with Applications

Once started, Citrix Receiver displays a list of applications you can access. To start an application, simply tap to select it from the application list.

Choosing to close an app, closes the application and returns you to the application list.

Screen Panning

You can use one finger to pan the screen so you can see areas of an application that extend past the viewing area of your device.

Typing

Use the onscreen keyboard (or hardware keyboard if present) at any time to enter or modify text. To display the keyboard, tap the keyboard icon at the center bottom of the screen(or the in-app menu). When you are finished typing, tap Done to dismiss the keyboard. NEW FEATURE FOR iPad: 3-finger tap in the application also brings up and dismisses the on-screen keyboard.

On the iPad, the in-app menu is at the top-center of the window (in the app).

Enter text: Tap the area of the screen where you want to place the insertion point. Tap the keyboard icon and then tap keys.

Select a single item of text, such as a single word: Double-tap the item you want to select.

Select multiple items of text, such as a phrase: Triple-tap the first item you want to select and then drag your finger to the end of the text.

Right-click in an application: Tap and hold your finger on the screen to display the shortcut menu for the selected item.

On the iPad, simply use a 2-finger tap in a quick sequence

Extended Keyboard Commands

You can use the extended keyboard to perform common functions such as cut, copy, and paste. To activate these functions, go to Settings > Citrix > Keyboard. When activated, these functions appear as buttons at the top of the keyboard. Swipe horizontally to scroll through the functions.

You can activate the following commands:

  • Alt: Activates menus in the current application.
  • Alt+Tab: Switches between open windows in an application.
  • Copy: Copies the selected item.
  • Ctrl+Alt+Del: Provides Windows Security options such as Lock Computer, Log Off, and Task Manager.
  • Ctrl+Esc: Displays the Start menu.
  • Cut: Cuts the selected item.
  • Del: Deletes the selected item.
  • End: Moves the insertion point to the end of the current line of text.
  • Esc: Cancels the current task.
  • F1-12: Activates keyboard shortcuts assigned to function keys in an application. For example, in Microsoft Office applications, tapping F12 displays the Save As dialog.
  • Home: Returns the insertion point to the beginning of the current line of text.
  • Page Down: Scrolls content upward in the current document.
  • Page Up: Scrolls content downward in the current document.
  • Paste: Pastes a copied or cut item at the insertion point.
  • Refresh: Updates the current window.
  • Save: Saves the current file.
  • Slide Show: Starts a slide show for the current PowerPoint presentation. To advance the slide show, tap the current slide.
  • Tab: Inserts a tabbed space in the current document.

Taking Calls while Working with Published Resources

iPhone Only
If you take a call while using Citrix Receiver, the application you are using becomes idle but does not close.
If you end the call by tapping End Call or you allow the caller to end the call, Citrix Receiver displays the application list. You can then select the application you were using before you took the call and resume working. If you end the call by pressing the home button, you must restart Citrix Receiver and then restart the application you were using.

The two finger right click option is not very accurate, in fact in some cases it's almost impossible unless you zoom in. Bring the tap and hold option to the iPad. It's much more usable.

installed on iPad.  When I clicked on remote desktop it happened that the upper case cannot be typed/displayed properly in the Windows logon screen.  Some articles mention it's a bug and require modification in the configuration of remote desktop.  However, I don't know how I can change the setting in the Citrix web interface?  Thx.
