SMS Text Message Based Authentication

Introduction

SMS based authentication is an authentication method supported by Citrix Access Gateway.

Similar to token based two factor authentication method, this method requires a one time passcode to login. Unlike tokens, it sends the one time passcode via SMS to the registered phone.

Your Citrix Access Gateway needs to be configured to use this authentication method.

Information for SMS Authentication vendors

If you would like to support Citrix Receiver for iPhone, here is what's required:

  • A PIN code needs to be verified before sending one time passcode
  • The SMS message should contain a URL in the format of citrixreceiver://auth?code=<one time passcode>. For example citrixreceiver://auth?code=1acd256
  • The second request to Access Gateway containing the one time passcode may come in a different HTTP session.
