Citrix Receiver iPhone

Introduction

Welcome to the iPhone page and wiki on the Citrix Community site. Ever since our initial Blog post asking if there was a desire to run Windows apps on the iPhone using XenApp we have been getting an overwhelming response from IT and users around the world. The iPhone has proven to be a winner not only for consumers but increasingly for business use as well, and more and more users want it for work... and play.
Based on this groundswell of interest we decided to make this project more of a community effort and to communicate with prospective Citrix iPhone users, share ideas, see what others are saying and provide an ongoing dialog. As has been publicly stated we plan to ship the iPhone in the first half of 09. We expect that the feature list will start at a base capability and grow over time with regular updates. You can help us prioritize these features, let us know your use cases and provide some great ideas as well.

Im a user of Microsoft products, just cause thats what was used since school for me.  However, why screw up a good thing (iPhone) by using Microsoft things on it!? I know its just a VNC type thing, but, c'mon, really! Apple OS 3.0 is said to have cut and paste, sorry Citrix, in this time of recession, you see to have wasted time and energy!

I would assume that you are not an enterprise user...Citrix is much more than a "VNC type thing" & will provide many great features for enterprise users on the iPhone. We have a couple hundred mobile users & many of them have made the switch to iPhones. While that has mostly been well received, an important feature a lot of our users had on their old smart phones that is sorely missed is the ability to edit Excel & Word documents from their phones. I realize there are 3rd party apps to accomplish this, but I'd rather be able to make use of tools we already have available & control of than throw another layer into the mix that we have to support. Personally, I look forward to the ease with which I will be able to administer the data center from my iPhone...I currently use the Logmein ignition client on my iPhone to accomplish this, but I'm sure I will gain much more out of a Citrix client on the iPhone since we already have a large Citrix presence in our environment.

Yeah, about the only things you got right in your post is you spelled their names right.  Absolutely everything else was wrong and shows a fundamental misunderstanding of all of the technologies involved.  I would suggest that prior to complaining, you educate yourself on what you're talking about.

First of all, You do not do the MS user community a favor by saying you are a member....  Hopefully, you are 5 and have problems typing...any hoo.  Maybe you have missed the point that most business applications are made by or written for a Windows environment and iPhone users would like to have access to work apps when away from the office or away from a computer... So rather than recode each app why not have one app that can deliver to the alternate iphone os.  You talk about recession..perhaps you are right and the biz community needs the money of recoding all apps for iphone ... however if you are on the side of the users then you have it dead wrong...buy/receive one app to get to the apps that you already own.  cheers

The company I work for has spent nearly 10 years developing our in-house Windows based application.  It is NOT possible for this to run as an iPhone application because of it's heavy database usage.  But running a remote copy of it on the iPhone would be SWEET.  Using Citrix now, we can have laptops accessing things all over the globe, adding that to our iPhone would change everything and give us a major competitive edge.
