Citrix Doc Finder

Doc Finder is a feature of Citrix Receiver that makes it easy for users to find and open the Enterprise docs they need from their mobile device. In this release, Doc Finder has been specifically optimized for the iPhone and iPod Touch form factor. It is a Windows application that is installed and configured on XenApp servers and delivered to users as a hosted application. Users simply log-on from their iPhone using the Citrix Receiver app and select Doc Finder from their list of available applications. Doc finder then acts as a mini-Windows Explorer, enabling them to traverse folders and files. When they find the file they need to view, they simply select it and the application needed to view it opens automatically. Doc Finder provides a far simpler user experience for iPhone users than they would otherwise have using the full version Windows Explorer or if they opened the application first and then tried to locate the file the need.

Doc Finder is an excellent example of an app that can be built once but delivered to any device using Citrix XenApp. Let us know what you think of it and share some ideas of other apps may be applicable.

Yes, the application associated with that file type on the server will launch. So if the XenApp server Doc Finder is running on has Adobe Reader installed, the pdf reader will open.

      Hope it helps.

How am i able to access data files on, lap top computer, or directly off my iphone, such as Documents2Go???

Very interested in the Powerpoint application since it really operates just like a MS Powerpoint and not like the all the other simple Powerpoint readers on the iPhone which don't really do the job well...

      Hi Raj,

      Thanks for your comment!

You are right that the native Powerpoint applications are not as nice as the desktop version. You can say the same about some other applications as well.

Currently DocFinder doesn't open files stored on the iPhone or lap top computers. It is designed to open files stored securely behind corporate firewalls on XenApp servers. If that is something you would like to explore, you may want to ask your IT department to evaluate Citrix XenApp if they haven't already.

      Regards,

      Ray
