Workflow Studio Pre-Requisites
With the release of Workflow Studio 1.1 there is now a CD Image (.iso) available for download. This image includes the Microsoft components that we are allowed to redistribute (SQL Express, and .NET Framework). The CD image contains the folders for the other components and a text file with links of where you can get them, so you could build your own image with all components, and our Setup process will detect and use the ones from the image.
Pre-Requisite Details:
- Latest service pack - Workflow Studio is supported on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2008 on both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms. We only support each of these on the latest service pack available at the time of release. The Setup program will check the service pack level and prompt you to install the latest service pack if you do not have it. We cannot redistribute these files, but in the Components directory of the ISO image there is a SP sub-directory. In there you will find links to the latest full downloads of the service packs, and if you download them into this folder then Setup.exe will automatically install them instead of prompting you to download them.
- .NET 3.5 SP1 - Workflow Studio heavily uses the .NET framework and requires version 3.5 SP1 or higher. The redistributable files to install the .NET framework are included in the Components\NET folder of the CD image.
- PowerShell 1.0 - Workflow Studio also leverages and requires PowerShell 1.0. Windows PowerShell is not redistributable, but you can download the installer and copy it into the Components\PowerShell folder to have it auto-install.
- Admin Tools - The Admin Tools pack is requires on some platforms. Workflow Studio uses the Authorization Manager component from this set of administration tools. These are not redistributable, but you will find download links and file names in the Components\AdminTools folder.
- SQL - Workflow Studio requires a SQL database configured for use. You do not have to install SQL locally with Workflow Studio, though we only check locally for it. If you have a remote SQL Server that you plan to use, you can ignore the warning and continue the installation. The redistributable files for SQL Express are in the Components\SQL folder of the CD image
The Group Policy activity library also requires that the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) be installed. This is not currently checked by the Setup program, though the activity library itself will check for it. GPMC is available here:
