Workflow Studio Evaluation Virtual Appliance Getting Started Guide
Introduction
What is Workflow Studio
Citrix Workflow Studio™ is an infrastructure process automation platform that enables you to transform your datacenter into a dynamic delivery center. It natively supports Citrix products including XenApp™, XenDesktop™, XenServer™ and NetScaler™ as well as Windows components like Active Directory and Group Policy. Built on top of Windows® PowerShell™ and Windows Workflow Foundation, Workflow Studio provides an easy-to-use, graphical interface for workflow composition that virtually eliminates scripting. Workflow Studio acts as the glue across the IT infrastructure allowing administrators to easily tie technology components together via workflows.
What is an Evaluation Virtual Appliance (EVA)
An Evaluation Virtual Appliance (EVA) is a preconfigured, ready-to-go, virtual machine system for evaluating Citrix products. Based on the Microsoft VHD Test Drive program , these EVAs allow you to quickly evaluate Citrix products without the hassle of installing and configuring the software. Citrix products that currently have an EVA available:
This document provides step-by-step instructions for extracting and running the EVA for Citrix Workflow Studio 2.0.
Configuring the EVA
Obtaining the EVA
To download the EVA visit http://www.citrix.com/wfs. Scroll to the section labeled "Evaluation virtual appliance". The EVA download is approximately 2.5 GB. The EVA is a self-extracting WinRAR archive. Once you have downloaded the EVA from the Citrix website run the executable to extract it. After extraction, you will see Citrix and Microsoft EULA files, a README, and the CitrixWFS2EVA.vhd file.
System Requirements
The EVA consists of a single Windows Server 2008 virtual machine that will allow for a 30 day evaluation period from when it is first launched. The EVA is packaged using the Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) format. More information on the VHD format is available directly from Microsoft . This format can be used with several virtualization platforms including:
Importing the EVA on Citrix XenServer
Citrix XenServer is available at no charge from http://www.citrix.com/tryxenserver. With XenServer, you will need a separate Windows machine with the XenCenter console installed in order to access and manage the virtual machines.
Once you have XenServer running, you will need to use XenConvert to import the VHD file.
Logging on
When you first start the EVA, you can logon using the following account:
- Username: Administrator
- Password: Evaluation1
You can join this virtual machine to your domain controller if you want to access domain resources and accounts.
