The long waited XenApp Plugin and Dazzle for Mac OS X has been released to the general public!

Mac users can access their hosted applications from their desktop or a web interface with the new XenApp Plugin for Mac.

You will find new in this release, Citrix Dazzle - an easy way to choose exactly which applications you need, when you need it - apps, your desktop, or any IT delivered service. Simply browse or search for the app or IT service you need. Users decide the folders that appear in their Applications folder. Simply click to create, then drag and drop any app or IT service.

Here's a list of new features:

  • Dazzle - is provided to enable users to browse, select and launch applications from a native Mac UI.
  • Improved Multi-monitor support.
  • Browser plug-in - enables Web Interface to determine the plug-in installed in the system and offer to upgrade if appropriate. Also, no more .ica files in the downloads folder!
  • System preferences - plug-in preferences are now set via a system preferences pane.
  • Cleartype remoting.

Install instructions:

If you are currently running version 10 of the Mac ICA Client, you can upgrade to the latest build by just running the new installer.

Thank Lord. No more .ica files??? Finally!!!

In a way too bad I may be switching back to Windows. Certain things on OSX/iLife apps are simply becoming unbearable for me. Will keep it there using BootCamp but using Windows 7 probably most of the time.

    Cheers Gus!

Saaweeeet!! Does the online plugin have the optional functionality to work like the PNA Agent on the PC? I.E pass-though authentication and provisioning of apps directly integrated to the DOC. I get the use case for dazzle(self service), although In some cases I would like to tell the users which apps they have. It seems like all the functionality is there, I can drag an ICON from the dazzle folder to my DOC and it works fine. Perhaps I'm just missing something about provisioning of the apps? Are there updates for the AMC to accommodate for the new plugin?

     Thanks in advance.

Dazzle connects to XenApp Services, formally known as PNAgent Site, so in short, Yes Dazzle adds the missing functionality of PNAgent to Mac devices, but far more advanced and tightly integrated into the operating system.

      hope this answers your question.

Great to see this new release. I do have some quesions however about connecting:

    1. How do you configure the plug-in to use an internally generated certificate with secure gateway? With both Firefox and Safari I can connect using https to the secure gateway website but nothing hapens when I click an icon for an app or desktop. The plugin works correctly internally.
    2. Same question for Dazzle. I can connect Dazzle internally but it does not work when I point it to the secure gateway server using https. Is that supported?

Another issue is that I don't get the correct keyboard layout in published apps and desktops. My Mac is configured for a Belgian keyboard but I get a US keyboard in remote sessions. Everything works perfectly from my Windows clients. Is there some configuration setting I am missing? (Note: the version 10 client has the same issue)

     Thanks

Great, having been hanging out for this integration into the OSX environment since I switched from Windows as my primary OS.

I am having a problem connecting my remote site however, I keep getting the message "The server does not support secure (HTTPS) connections".  Now it definatly does, we have Xenapp 11 plug-ins for Windows connecting from everywhere and the web interface works just fine also.

We are running secure gateway in normal mode, the only thing I can think of is we are running Xenapp 4.5 rather than 5.  Is there any compatability requirements we need to know?

Cheers and keep up the good work!

Much better client. The plug registers kind of funny though in Safari. Why does it say Quicktime Movie for description?

Also why doesn't Dazzle pass through the kerberos ticket from AD to the PNAgent/XenApp Services site? Kind of annoying to have to put in credentials there.

I can't find anything in the Admin guide that mentions what authentication types are supported with this new Mac client.  Is this going to be similar to the iPhone Receiver, where you can only use RSA SecurID authentication if you have an Access Gateway?  Right now we can't use the iPhone app because with our plain Secure Gateway, because the RSA logon is not supported.

If I try and access my Secure Gateway XenApp Services site using my iPhone or Windows PC it works fine. When I try and configure it using the Mac plug-in I get "Unable to Connect to Server. The Server Does Not Support Secure (HTTPS) Connections. Contact Your Helpdesk For Assistance". What am I missing? I configured it with the full path right to the xml file (https://servername/Citrix/PNAgent/config.xml) like I did for my iPhone and Windows PCs and I tried just the FQDN (https://servername). Any/all help is greatly appreciated.

Same issue here, CSG with ssl works fine with iPhone, and desktop receiver embedded, only using FQDN without full path to config file. On mac Safari/Firefox the plugin works great without issues. But Dazzle get me dizzy tried FQDN en full path to config file. Is it a certificate issue I'm using Thawte? Must the root CA be in a certain place just like the linux receiver? Can't be cause Dazzle is more integrated in the OS as stated above, I can see my CA stated in the System Roots KeyChain.

anyone on spot? would be great!

    Hi All,

I have figured out the problems in that the first is that the client appears to be not reading the config.xml properly.  It doesn't appear to be reading the variable [SERVER_AND_PATH] so if that gets changed to the full server name and path (for example server.com.au/CITRIX/PNAgent) then that allows the enumeration.  This has to be changed in the file path (eg. c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\CITRIX\PNAgent\conf), you can't use the AMC to change it as it changes the xml code back to [SERVER_AND_PATH].

The second problem is the Dazzle client doesn't want to use the secure gateway so in the webinterface.conf (same place as the config.xml) there is a ClientAddressMap=,Normal.  This needs to be changed to ClientAddressMap=,SG

Also to the end of this I've added the lines:

    DisablePNAgentLocalConfigCheck=Off
    PNAgentMaxRequestBytes=8360

My suggestion would be to create a second site for the Mac clients in the short term. So in the Dazzle server address you have to define the full config.xml path:

    eg.  https://server.com/CITRIX/PNAgent1/config.xml

Incidentally, this is how we used to get around the pnagent not working through the secure gateway before the version 11 client in Windows.

    See how you all go,

     Damien Simmons

You state better multimonitor support. however it seems to be the same, It won't let you drag the window to the next screen past the point where the dragging mouse cursor hits the edge of the primary screen.

I am really disappointed with this Citrix Dazzle thing, I upgraded to this client from Mac Client 10, now I cannot launch any Hosted Applications from my company. I removed Citrix Dazzle and attempted to reinstall the older v10 client and still apps will not launch.

How can I back out the changes made by Citrix Dazzle so that I can use a client that works?

I was having problems too but with window behavior with Mac vers. 11.0. I found these instructions and a link to v 10.00.603 at this site. Multiple files need to be uninstalled. I don't understand why Citrix removed all traces of Mac Client v10.0 from their site before version 11 had time to mature, rather annoying. Sorry Gus, but otherwise the continued Mac support and updates are appreciated.

This new Dazzle client does not work with my companies Citrix App gateway. Just says it cannot find the configuration file or some such stupid error.

My companies Citrix server requires two factor authentication and is configured to serve ica files, which the new client niether wants nor understands.

I really cannot believe that a company as large as Citrix has completely changed the citrix client functionality on Mac and offered zero backward compatibility and offered no possibility to download the V10 client. My company employs 160,000 people and is not in a position to act like a bunch of cowboys and just upgrade stuff because Citrix decided to change functionality.

Oh. And the V10 client doesnt work on Safari 4 under 10.6, only works with Firefox.

I completely agree. The new plugin version 11.0.0 does not work for Mac OS 10.6,

and it's unbelievable that Citrix would just pull the client completely

and replace it with something unproven, without any indication

of how the new thing even relates to the old one.

If anyone has a Version 10 package of the client for Mac OS 10.5 or later lying around, PLEASE make it available

      by emailing it to anno@ieee.org.

      Thanks so much,

    Two things.

    1.  I'm seeing many talk about it not supporting Safari.  That is the only browser our SSL VPN supports for Macs.  I don't want to fall back to the Java client, it's terribly unreliable.

    2.  The Admin documentation says nothing about the differences between the Mac online client and the Mac Web online client.  I know the name makes me jump to obvious conclusions, but it really should be documented which is for what.  I have no idea what is supported on that Web version.

Very disappointed with this app and its ability to connect to my work citrix install. The web plug in for Firefox and Safari don't work because the ICA files don't launch or work - just nothing at all. Then Dazzle keeps saying there is no server, or that it couldn't connect.

I went back to Citrix ICA client version 10 and everything works fine. This promised a lot but delivered nothing for me. So frustrating that not even the web plugin works. I could cope if it was just Dazzle, although I would love all the promised functionality.

Is that the IT department to blame for not being configured for mac or Citrix and Dazzle for being just pretty ordinary apps?
