Have you had a look at the trial release of HDX MediaStream for Flash yet? Early feedback has been very positive. Jason Langone of Infinite Group / Systems ArchiTECH.com wrote this of his experience with HDX MediaStream for Flash: "The first time I walked by a XenDesktop virtual instance playing a video on YouTube I had NO idea it was a virtual desktop. Yes, it's that good." Check it out! The benefits of HDX are clear.

[May 20: This post originally contained the video by Michel Buis that is referenced in Jason Langone's recent article as being "indicative" of the results he experienced with HDX MediaStream for Flash, but since Michel's video shows Windows Media Player rather than Flash, that created some confusion and I have removed it. I'll write a new post shortly with a video of HDX MediaStream for Flash playing YouTube content, which is the experience that Jason wrote about. I've edited the post to make this clear to future readers. Hopefully someone will do a comparison with a Flash video soon!

Having said that, I did make a post yesterday of a ClearCube 8510 with the latest Citrix goodness installed running a video off of Youtube (where videos are streamed with a Flash player: http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=56115).
I also agree with the poster that said MMR likely wasn't configured correctly in the Youtube video that showcased Windows Media Player on the two playforms. My testing with VMware View and WMV has been much better than what that Youtube video suggests.
However, when it comes to Flash, that video was INDICATIVE of the delta.

"I've double checked with my colleague just this morning if we did enable the MMR feature with VMware View, but he said that it is on by default so it was on when we performed our testing.
The fact that VMware's MMR does a poor job in playing the Big Buck Bunny video surprised us very much too. The format that was used in the video was AVI Microsoft mpeg4, with mp3 stereo sound. That's the format that should perform well with MMR (and HDX too of course). I did some further research on the subject and upgraded Windows Media Player from version 9 to version 10 on the VMware View client. After that the video ran smooth with one very big exception....! It only displayed half of the lines that are used, so effectively it only displayed 240 lines instead of 480. I think that's called interlaced, but correct me if I'm wrong. Well.. That's one way to make a video run smoothly, right?"
Perhaps there is a way to improve the experience with MMR, but the key point is that HDX MediaStream was able to play the video smoothly, and HDX MediaStream for Flash can do the same for Adobe Flash content.

The network latency between the user device and the media source doesn't matter ...The network latency between the user device and the media source doesn't matter (that is, the effect of latency is no different than it would be if you were running Internet Explorer and the Flash Player directly on the endpoint without this new technology). But the latency between the user device and the Citrix server must be low. As noted on the download page, "This trial release has not been optimized for network latency. Best performance requires a low latency network connection, generally a Local Area Network connection, between the user and the Citrix server." We recommend that you evaluate the trial release with 20ms or lower network latency between the endpoint device and the XenApp/XenDesktop server. As we take this technology to general availability, we expect to improve its latency tolerance somewhat; but above a certain to-be-determined latency threshold, HDX Adaptive Orchestration (specifically, SmartRendering) will automatically revert to server-side Flash rendering to ensure the best user experience possible under the particular network conditions.
